About Our Program

The Reynoldsburg City Schools, Early Learning Preschool Program, a program of the Educational Services Center of Central Ohio, provides trans-disciplinary services to preschoolers (ages 3-5) with and without disabilities. The preschool program is located at Livingston High School.  

The program is designed to provide child-centered, enriched learning activities that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with the Ohio Department of Education Early Learning Content Standards. Classrooms are divided into interest centers such as books, art, dramatic play, block building, manipulatives, and sensory. Materials and activities at each interest center are individualized for the children. Busy and quiet activities alternate and time is set aside for the children to meet as a group with the teacher for planned activities.

Teachers use the HighScope Curriculum and align student learning to the Early Learning and Development Standards adopted by the Ohio Department of Education. Student learning is play-based and focused on developmentally appropriate skill development for preschool students. 

Students attend school Monday-Friday in half-day sessions, which is assigned based on the student's home address within the district. Preschool programming follows a school calendar that is provided to families at the start of the school year. 

Inclusive/Integrated Classrooms serve up to 16 students, 8 children with disabilities and 8 typically- developing preschool peer models. Specialized classrooms are exclusively for students with disabilities who needs are best met in smaller or highly structured environments.  Eligibility for children with disabilities is determined by a district evaluation team following the eligibility criteria established by the Ohio Department of Education. 

Students with disabilities benefit from small group instruction in a supportive environment that includes interacting with typically-developing preschool peer models. Students have access to specially designed instruction to meet their unique needs. Onsite services include speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. These services are provided based on the students Individualized Education Plan developed by the family and school. 

Itinerant preschool special education services are also available to assist children in their home, preschool or childcare setting. Staff work collaboratively with district personnel and families to support transition planning and develop and implement Individualized Education Program goals designed to meet the unique needs of preschoolers with a disability.

Services are provided in the child’s natural setting by a certified early childhood intervention specialist at a minimum of four hours per month.

Peer model programming is open to students living in Reynoldsburg City School District who are 3 or 4 years old and have age-appropriate communication, self-care, and social skills. Students are seated on a first-come, first-serve basis in the spring. Parents can pick up an enrollment packet at the Welcome Center to enroll their child in the program. 

Students benefit from an integrated preschool setting where they engage with other students who are students with disabilities or peer models. Class sizes are limited to 16 students (8 peer models and 8 students with disabilities). One certified teacher and paraprofessional to support the needs of students in the classroom.
